Chickens

chicken We raise heritage, purebred Coucous de Malines Chickens. Chicks are often available in the spring. Hatching and table eggs are also available. Malines, or Mechels as they are often called, are a large, dual purpose chicken. Laying large to extra large eggs, they are calm, and robust. Due to their size, they are not great flyers so a 4 ft fence is all you need to keep them contained. They do not, however, suffer  many of the physical issues of broiler chickens and by 16 weeks can dress out at 6-9 lbs. For a breed description and history see the link Standard
